SEA Launches New Website

The past year has been one of tremendous progress for the Website committee. As with most projects, most of the initial work went on behind the scenes. Our first task was moving the site to a hosting service which could meet our growing needs and provide us support moving forward. Effective December 31, 2008, the site was successfully moved to ASA as our host. While host migration was occurring, our committee reached out to other committees to develop a system of contacts to improve the flow of information and committee work products. Committees were encouraged to develop any new content they would like to appear on the web site. Our committee also developed the “Tech Corner” which collected resources on how to best use technology to enhance your teaching and career. We also compiled an extensive list of helpful web links and resources.

The New SEA Website

Site Flow
The new site will allow multiple approaches to accessing the same information.  This way, experienced users can quickly access the features and functionality they need, while those new to the site can explore based on an intuitive self-description of their goals.

The basic breakdown will be:  Student, Resident, Educator or Education Researcher.  As users select one of these categories, they will be routed to a page which concentrates the resources most applicable to their needs.  Alternately, for easy navigation, the same features will be available through menus on the top and side of each page.  One click return to home via the SEA logo in the top corner will also streamline the experience. Easy access to PDF versions of files, and one click printing or emailing of data will make sharing information a breeze!  Site searchability will be enhanced as well for quicker access to items of interest- a keyword search from the top of the screen will make life easier for all.
